If you want to use it primarily for music, get a high current reciever, HK. Quick Take: The Pioneer VSX-516 (200 list) is the entry-level A/V receiver in the company's 2006 line. But for movies, if you have a sub, this reciever is great. Overall Review: For music, this Pioneer will do an "acceptable" job. It's Pro-Logic so I had to retire that unit. The sound isn't really a weakness but my last reciever was a Harman/Kardon AVR20MKII and it sound phenomenal for music. I don't care if you're a sound guru, you will be lost if you don't read it.

You HAVE to read the manual to use the features. I know it's silly to judge the looks of a "sound" system, but this look great with the rest of my HT gear. I have nothing more to say since Pioneer did such a good job. That was more of a "toy" surround sound system. It sounds alot better than my old Onkyo GXW51. I have Polk R10's all around and a *gasp* Sony sub. This is the 124 pages manual for pioneer vsx 516 k service manual. But for their prices, Harman/Kardon would be a better choice.
There were Sonys that were cheaper, but I don't trust Sony recievers, unless they're ES line.
